TikTok

Product

TikTok is a Chinese social networking service and short-form online video platform. It hosts user-submitted videos, which range in duration from three seconds to 60 minutes. It can be accessed through a mobile app or through its website. Despite being a Chinese-made app, TikTok is blocked in mainland China and Hong Kong, and Douyin is available there instead. While TikTok and Douyin share a similar user interface, the platforms operate separately.

A fraudulent page impersonating Apple promises a $750 reward after a fake device verification. The eligibility check is a timer, the verification checks nothing, and the claim button reopens the same download link, routing users through affiliate tracking links to app installs and sign-ups. Urgency features such as a falling spots-left counter and randomised claim pop-ups are scripted.
