Google adds new limits to CodeMender, its AI tool that finds and fixes vulnerabilities
Google Cloud has added controls to CodeMender, its AI tool for finding and fixing software vulnerabilities. Scans can also be targeted more precisely, including across a whole code repository.
Google Cloud London outage blamed on misconfigured generators that failed to start
Google Cloud says an October 20 outage in its europe-west-2-b availability zone in London was caused by a misconfiguration. The facility's generators failed to receive a start signal after a broken external cable on the primary feed, while the other feed was offline for repairs. The UPS batteries lasted about five minutes, and Lloyds, HSBC, Royal Mail and Revolut services were affected. Google has reprogrammed the controller logic and made electrical changes, and is working on faster customer notification.

Google has added a top-tier $250,000 reward to its Cloud Vulnerability Reward Program, called Root-in-Cloud. It covers researchers who demonstrate complete administrative takeover of arbitrary Google Cloud projects or organisations without prior access, announced on 30 October. The programme focuses on architectural flaws that could compromise tenant isolation or cause harmful interactions between cloud services.
