WIRED reports that an Accenture employee allegedly connected a personal AI coding assistant to a secure US Department of Defense system, where it could write and deploy code for about two months. The assistant may have sent passwords and a map of the network to an outside website. Accenture says an independent investigation found the allegations to be without merit.

What to do

  1. If you have an account with the company, change that password, and anywhere you used the same one.
  2. Turn on two-step sign-in where you can.
  3. Expect scam emails and texts that mention the breach: contact the company yourself, not through links.
