The British bank and payments firm Revolut says it cut the cost of its AI coding tools by about nine-tenths by running its own open-source models instead of paying for commercial services. The company also said that running such models on its own or regional servers, rather than through foreign-hosted APIs, avoids most of the privacy concerns.
