Cyberattacks on refrigeration controls hit French blood service and European food retailers
The French Blood Establishment (EFS) says attackers compromised a refrigeration supplier and altered cold-room settings, reportedly from -30°C to 110°C, though its own systems were not directly targeted and no products were compromised. The EFS notified ANSSI and the Ministry of Health. Retailers across Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Sweden and other countries reported remotely activated defrost cycles, and the UK's NCSC is aware of a couple of impacts on the food supply chain.
Supermarket refrigeration systems disrupted across several European countries
Refrigeration management platforms at supermarkets in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, Estonia and several other European countries were disrupted on 2 and 3 November, weeks after hundreds of French stores were hit. French agency ANSSI attributed the French cases to internet-exposed administration interfaces and weak passwords rather than previously publicised vulnerabilities. Russian-aligned groups have a record of similar activity, but no evidence yet establishes responsibility for the European incidents.
